Where can we visit the museum and when is it open?
The museum is located at 4520 Crowchild Trail in SW Calgary and is open 7 days a week from 1000-1700 hrs. Please visit The Military Museums Website for the most up-to-date hours.
How much is the entrance fee?
There is a graduated entrance fee scale based on age, topping out at $15 per adult. Family rates are available. One price gets you into all eight museums. Entrance is free to all serving CAF, Veterans, as well as members of the NMAS.
What are some of the highlights of the NMA collection?
The NMA has over 5000 artifacts and retains the most complete collection of major ship weapons systems in Canada including large naval guns, ship countermeasure systems, anti-submarine mortars, missiles, and target drones. We have detailed models of all three versions of HMCS Calgary.
Does the Naval Museum of Alberta have a supporting group that helps provide artifacts to them?
Yes, the NMA is supported by their friends at the Naval Museum of Alberta Society. They are a not-for-profit society founded in 1988 to support the search for, acquisition, collection, restoration, and preservation of artifacts. The NMAS owns approximately 75% of the artefacts in the NMA.
