Large Bore 6"

The 6" gun was used on the Canadian cruisers HMCS Uganda/Quebec and HMCS Ontario. Their main purpose was anti-surface warfare, but they had limited anti-aircraft barrage capacity.

These weapons were controlled by the Gun Direction System (GDS1) using the Type 992 radar. This system enabled the ships to engage multiple targets within a few seconds of each other and was technically very advanced for its time. It was capable of dispensing 5-8 rounds per barrel per minute, with a range of 23 kilometres.

These were used in Canadian service from 1944 to 1958.
